Networking for the Library

Wednesday, April 20, 2016 12:15 PM
As Library Commission members, our volunteers are often asked to represent the Library at local, County, and State meetings. One such event is the annual Delaware Library Association Legislative Day, held in mid-April, during National Library Week.

After an informative morning session, with information on funding priorities and expenditures, how to advocate for libraries, and where to find your local State Representative or Senator, attendees are off to the State House for lunch with elected officials, office staffers, and library colleagues. Immediately following are office visits with your Representative or Senator.

2016 marks Delaware Governor Jack Markell’s final year in office. Delaware Libraries have benefitted greatly from Governor Markell’s administration. And he likes libraries, too.

Delmar Public Library’s Commission President Beverly Wilson took a few moments to thank Governor Markell for his support and to capture a quick photo. Looks like they’re having a great time!

Thanks Governor Markell and President Wilson!

BWW is wings, of course, as spicy as you want to eat them, and it’s also salads, burgers, food for the kids, and dessert, too. Show your flier available at the Library or print from the website or Facebook and Buffalo Wild Wings will donate 20% of your purchase to the Library.
