Penny/Coin Challenge in Support of the Delmar Library’s Capital Campaign

Thursday, May 14, 2015 10:00 AM
With support from Delmar Elementary School and the Wicomico County Board of Education, students will soon be collecting pennies and coins for the Delmar Public Library’s capital campaign in a Penny/Coin Challenge. In a friendly competition between classes, students will collect coins until June 8 and return their collection boxes (provided by the Library) to school. The class collecting the most money will receive a class party prior to the last day of school. Involving children in the campaign supports the future of the library and shows each child the results from their donation. Let’s give children and families a chance to say “I built that!”

Every dollar supports the capital campaign and our $100,000 challenge from the Longwood Foundation. We’ve raised more than half of that amount and have until September 30 to meet the challenge. Delmar Public Library's 75th Anniversary Slogan Contest

Monday, December 29, 2014 12:24 PM
2015 marks the 75th Anniversary of Library service in the Town of Delmar. In April 1940, a group of concerned citizens in Delmar believed the town needed a library and began work to have the Delmar Public Library recognized by the Delaware Library Commission. Opening in one room on Grove Street, sharing the building that would house the town’s only doctor, the Library was open 6 hours a week, Tuesday and Thursday. Today, the Library is open 47 hours each week, Monday-Saturday, and the Board of Commissioners is leading the planned expansion of the library building and services ready to serve the residents of Delmar for the next twenty years.
